Circle Time: The letter R is the first letter that we have made using a diagonal line. So we practiced making diagonal lines in our workbook today. The R word was rake. We traced the handle of a rake which was at a diagonal. Then we traced letter Rs and colored a girl who was raking leaves.
Morning Story: I used a book that was titled What if? This is a picture book similar to one that we had a few weeks ago in which we had to make up the words to the story. The pictures in the book were of an ocean and the beach. A beach balls rolls out into the ocean. Two seals find the ball and begin to play with it. Another seal comes along. What if the two seals do not ask the other to play? What if one seal goes with the other seal? What if the ball floats away? The children made up stories to go with these pictures.
Morning Group Time: After the story about the beach ball, we played catch with two beach balls. On the beach balls, I had printed numbers on the various colored stripes. When the children caught the ball, they had to identify the number that was closest to their hand.
Afternoon: The afternoon class had a visitor today which took up our story and group time. I asked my daughter Renee to come and visit to talk about bowling. Renee is a college student who was on the Ashford University bowling team for two years until her schedule got to busy. Renee brought her bowling balls and shoes along to show the children. She explained a few of the rules and prepared us for our visit next week. Renee will visit the morning class next week.
Snacks: Today was birthday day. We made Peanut Butter Balls. We mixed peanut butter and powdered milk together. The children rolled this mixture into balls and then rolled the balls into powdered sugar and/or coconut.
