Umbrella

Circle Time:  We are learning about the letter U this week.  It is the first letter that we are studying that has a curve in it.  Our song is about a ukulele.  Does anyone have one?  In the picture, it looks like a guitar.  I would like the children to see the different size.

Story:  Our story today was Umbrella.  This is a story of a girl who received an umbrella and rain boots for her birthday.  However, she has to wait until it rains before she can use it.  When it finally does rain, the umbrella makes her feel grown up.  Ask you child to tell you the sound that the rain makes on her umbrella.

Group Time:  The Handwriting Without Tears has a song and workbook page about rain.  This tied in well with our story.  We had to match pictures on the workbook page.

We are going to be starting a new study about the grocery store.  We made a list of what we already know about the grocery store.  Please read the note in your child's backpack about this study.

Art:  The children painted with sponges that were in the shape of circles, triangles, squares, and stars.

Snacks:  The morning class had Cheez-its and apples brought by Andie.  The afternoon class had pumpkin bread brought by Hanley.  Thank you!
