These are our activities for Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon, October 22nd and 23rd.
Circle Time: We introduced the letter T and learned the T song. The melody for the T song is "Reuben, Reuben". I am not familiar with "Reuben, Reuben". We looked it up online to see if it was a popular child's song, but didn't recognize it. If I did not have the CD, I'd be scratching my head as I'm sure some of you were, so good luck with this one! You are welcome to come in and listen to it if you'd like.
Story: We read the story The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything. In this story, a little old lady goes out for a walk to gather nuts and spices. When it gets dark, she starts to walk back home. Along the way, she comes upon a pair of shoes that say CLOMP, CLOMP, a pair of pants that say WIGGLE, WIGGLE, a shirt that says SHAKE, SHAKE, a pair of gloves that say CLAP, CLAP, a hat that says NOD, NOD, and a pumpkin that says BOO, BOO. The little old lady says that she is not afraid, but runs home. When these things follow her home and don't want to leave, she tells them something that they can do in her garden. Ask you child to tell you what it is. Following the story, we talked about things that we are afraid of. The children were surprised to find out that I have something that I am afraid of....
Small Groups: We provided props for the children to use to act out the story that we had read. They enjoyed saying the words over and over again.
We had saved the seeds from the pumpkin that we cut open last week and used them for a counting activity.
Art: We had cut out pumpkin shapes on Thursday after reading the glow-in-the-dark book A Very Scary Jack-o-lantern. Today, we painted faces on them with glow-in-the-dark paint. We will try them out on Wednesday!
