Bats!

Circle Time:  We had a discussion about bats.  First, I asked the children to tell me everything that they already knew about bats.  Then we used a book that I had to find out a few more facts about bats.

Story:  Stellaluna is the story of a baby bat who gets separated from her mother when a bat attacks them in flight.  Stellaluna lands in a birds nest and has to learn how to act like a bird to survive.  She has to do some unusual things for a bird/bat.  Ask your child to tell you what bats do differently than birds.  In the end, Stellaluna finds her mother but will always remain friends with the birds.

Small Groups:  We practiced making the letter T on our wet, dry, try boards.

We glued pictures of bat facts onto a piece of black paper.  We intended to color them, but didn't have quite enough time.

We took our glow-in-the-dark Jack-o-lanterns into a dark room (restroom) to try them out.  They worked!  Fun!

Art:  The children cut a yellow circle out of paper to resemble a moon.  They glued a bat cut out to the moon and added some creepy eyes.  We will use these for Halloween decorations.

Snacks:  The morning class had raisins brought by Malynah.  The afternoon class had Cheez Nips and apples brought by Colin Me.  Thank you!
