Circle Time: We started with a discussion on spiders. First, I asked them to tell me what they already knew and we added to it from there. We learned that spiders have 8 legs, 8 eyes, and spin webs to catch bugs. We learned that they won't eat the bugs, but suck out their insides. Yum!
We also introduced the letter I. The morning class didn't get a copy of the song today, but it is in their cubbies for tomorrow.
Story: How Spider Saved Halloween is the story of three friends, Spider, Lady Bug, and Fly. Spider is trying to pick a good costume for Halloween, but is having a problem finding the right disguise. Lady Bug's pumpkin gets smashed by two bullies. Can Spider solve both problems? Ask your child to tell you how he did it.
Small Groups: We tried to make our own group spider web by sitting in a circle and passing a ball of yard back and forth. It was difficult to remember to hold the end of the yarn in one hand and throw the ball with the other.
We also learned a new song called "Peanut Butter". Ask your child about the silly ending.
Art: The children created spiders using construction paper circles and ribbons for legs.
Snacks: The morning class had granola bars brought by Ryan. The afternoon class had Goldfish brought by Myla. Thank you!
