A great day to play outside!

Circle Time:  We learned how to make the letter I and sang the I song.  Then we prepared to go outside.  This was the first time that we have played outside since the new mulch and toys have been installed.  When you have new things, there are always new rules, so we went over them before heading outside.

Story:  The Biggest Pumpkin Ever is the story of two mice who unknowingly are raising the same pumpkin.  One mouse wants the large pumpkin for the city pumpkin contest.  The other mouse wants the large pumpkin to create a Jack-o-lantern for Halloween.  When they discover that they both have their eye on the same pumpkin, what will happen?  Ask you child to tell you what they decided to do.

Group Time:  We learned how to measure using plastic links.  I gave the children cardboard cut outs of Halloween items and asked them to use the links to measure how tall the items were.  We wrote the results on the chalkboard and determined that the spider was the smallest item.  The largest items were the witch and ghost.

Snacks:  The morning class had pretzels brought by   The afternoon class had bananas and cashews brought by Madeline.  Thank you!

I am including a few pictures from our time outside today.  It was a little chilly this morning, but I seemed to be the only one that noticed!
