It was another busy day. The time seems to fly when the children are here. I have had a few of the children who were in Mrs. Whiteman's class last year ask when I was going to start doing some of the things that she did. I have to explain to them that I do things differently than she does. I know it's an adjustment for some of them, but everyone is doing well.
Circle Time: I used Zoey and Max to teach the children about sharing. This can be a difficult concept. Some children think that sharing means that a child has to give them the toy that they want, even if the child had it first. So we talked about taking turns and making sure that everyone is included.
Story: It's Okay to be Different is a book we use to talk about how everyone has different traits and that it's okay. Some of the words are "it's okay to have glasses, it's okay to have big ears, it's okay to be embarrassed, it's okay to be angry," etc. We looked around the room and realized that no two people look or act the same. That's what makes us special.
Large Group: We learned to play along with the song "Tap, Tap" using our big lines from yesterday's Handwriting Without Tears lesson. Then we went outdoors to the play yard to try the balance beam and twirling ribbons.
Snack: The morning class had graham crackers with a little chocolate frosting. The afternoon class had cheese sticks and pretzels brought by Taylor. Thank you!
