Circle Time: We will be learning about the letter B this week. I told the children that the B song is kind of a tongue twister if you sing it quickly. Good luck!
Story: We are getting ready for Valentine's Day, so I chose the story Be My Valentine. In this story, Thomas likes a girl named Gretchen and makes a beautiful Valentine for her. However, Gretchen doesn't like boys! Thomas' mother invites Gretchen over to play and Gretchen finds that playing with boys can be just as fun as with girls. However, the next day, Thomas sees that Gretchen is talking to Harrison. Now he is confused. Is she still his friend? Can you have more than one friend?
Group Time: I gave the children a piece of paper with a heart on it. I asked the children to draw something in the heart that they loved. Then I asked them to write words under the heart to tell me what it was. I told the children that if they didn't know how to make the words that they could guess or just pretend. It was interesting to see what they came up with. I'll share these with you at conferences at the end of the month.
We also played a Valentines version of Duck, Duck, Goose, using the words "I choose you".
Art: Last Wednesday, we began making a Valentine windsock by painting a heart on a piece of paper. Today, we glued tissue paper streamers to the paper. We will roll the paper into a tube and hang it from the ceiling.
Snacks: The morning class had Angry Bird grahams and juice brought by Dalton. The afternoon class had cheese sticks, turkey sausage pieces, and juice bought by Lukas. Thank you!
