Circle Time: We opened the D tub and found a dinosaur, donut, Dalmatian dog, dolphin, domino, and duck inside. We added to the list with our own D words.
Story: Dinosaur Roar is a book of opposites. Throughout the book, we saw dinosaurs that were big/small, fat/tiny, sweet/grumpy, fierce/meek, etc. We took a little extra time to think up other words that are opposites.
Group Time: We did a counting activity today in which the children had to count the teeth in a Tyrannosaur's mouth and find the numeral to show me how many teeth he had. The teeth were candy corn, so we had a treat when we were done. We also did a dinosaur bone digging activity. The children dug in our sand box to find bones that were labeled with letters of the alphabet. Once the children found them, they had to identify the letters.
Art: We made dinosaur fossils with play dough that looked like soft rocks. I made the dough using flour, salt, sand, and coffee grounds. The children flattened the dough into cookie sized circles and used toy dinosaurs to make imprints. We will let them dry overnight and see if they are hard enough to take home tomorrow.
Snacks: The morning class had granola bars and juice brought by Ryan. The afternoon class had applesauce and milk brought by Alexa. Thank you!
