Circle Time: We reviewed the letter O and took a look at the workbook page that we were to complete after snack time. We had to draw a crayon line for an otter to follow in the shape of the letter O. Then we traced 4 letter O's and colored an otter. The children asked what otters were and wanted to know what they like to eat. So, during playtime, Mrs. Lehenbauer used the computer to get some information for us about otters.
Story: Tickly Octopus is the story of an octopus that likes to tickle. Not everyone likes to be tickled, however. He startles an oyster which causes her to drop her pearl in the ocean. The octopus hurries off to fetch it for her and finds that he is a fast swimmer, a deep swimmer, a slinky swimmer, and an inky swimmer. Ask your child for the details!
Group Time: We played a large group game today called 4 Corners. We placed a colored cone in each of four corners of the room. While I closed my eyes and counted to ten, the children moved around the room and stopped at a cone. With my eyes still closed, I called out a color. The children standing by that color of cone had to sit out. We repeated the process until one child was left. This was our first game with a winner so we had to talk about being a good sport. I know a lot of preschools always play games where everyone wins and no one loses. While that eliminates hurt feelings, it doesn't give the children experience in what to do when things don't work out the way that you want them to. I was very proud of the good sports that we had today! The encouraged one another and congratulated the winners!
Snack Time: The morning class had pretzels and apples brought by Perry. The afternoon class had blueberry muffins brought by Dax. Thank you!
