Taking turns can be hard...

Circle Time:  Yesterday, a few of the children asked why I haven't had Zoey and Max out for a while.  We had been so busy with other things that I had tucked them away.  So I brought them out today.  Zoey and Max wanted to play with the same toy at the same time.  We talked about different ways that we could solve this problem.  This was a little difficult for some of the children because it meant compromise.  This can be a hard for 4-5 year olds to understand and especially to practice.

We made a list of E words on the chalkboard.  This was tricky because there aren't many words that start with the letter E.

Story:  We read the story of the Eensey-Weensy Spider.   Everyone is familiar with this rhyme.  In the book, more stories are shared about the spider and are written with rhyming words.  It was interesting to see which children could come up with the last word in the sentence just by thinking of a word that rhymed with the previous ending word.

Group Time:  We practiced printing names today.  The children were given name cards to help them remember the letters if needed.  We print on strips of paper that have a smiley face at the top left corner to help them remember where to start.

We also did some gross motor activities today.  This included running, galloping, skipping, balancing, etc.

Art:  The children painted with fluorescent paints on aluminum foil.  We used paint brushes.  We will send them home tomorrow.

Snacks:  The morning class had string cheese and apples brought by Ava.  The afternoon class had pumpkin bread brought by Richie.  Thank you!
