Being that today was picture day, we had a "relaxed" schedule. We usually do art on Mondays, but didn't want to get any paint, glue or marker on any one's nice clothes. We will resume art on Wednesday.
Circle Time: We took a few minutes to talk with Jerry our photographer so that the children weren't afraid of him when it was time to get their picture taken. Jerry uses his "picture bus" as a traveling studio. Mrs. Lehenbauer took 3 children at a time to have their pictures taken in the picture bus.
We introduced the letter E and learned the E song.
Story: Daisy and the Egg is the story of a duckling who is waiting for a brother or sister to hatch out of an egg. The other eggs in the nest hatch first and mother duck is just about ready to give up on the final egg. But Daisy doesn't give up and waits patiently for the egg to hatch.
Group Time: Following the story, I showed a video that I had taken over the summer. I have a duck who laid a nest of eggs this spring and hatched them in June. The children got to see the one of the ducklings hatch out of it's egg.
I brought some chicken eggs to show the children. We recited the poem "Humpty Dumpty" and guessed what would happen if a real egg fell off of the wall. I build a wall with blocks and placed the egg on top. You can guess what happened when it fell. Then I placed another egg on top, but when it fell it did not break. Ask your child to tell you why it didn't break.
Snacks: The morning class had bunny crackers and apples brought by Sarah. The afternoon class had granola bars brought by Joey. Thank you!
