Circle Time: We had a few changes today with the new month. We have new name cards for attendance and new items on our circle time center. Please ask your child about them. This week is F week. We began with a discussion of Fall. The children were able to tell me several things that happen in the fall such as the change in temperature, the leaves changing colors and falling off of the tree.
Story: Our story was Time to Sleep. This is a story about a bear that notices the change in the weather which indicates that Fall is here and it is time to hibernate. The bear tells a snail who tells a skunk who tells a turtle who tells a woodchuck who tells a ladybug! At the end, the ladybug goes to tell the bear who is already in her cave sleeping.
Small Groups: Following the story, the children were given a copy of a page from the book that we had just read. However, some of the story parts were missing. The children had to remember parts from the story to fill in the picture.
We also played a ladybug lotto game to match dots from a dice to dots on a lady bug. Some children have never played a lotto or Bingo game before, so it was a lesson in how to play this type of game.
Art: The children tore pieces of tissue paper into a small tray. When they had enough pieces to cover the bottom of the tray, they spread glue onto a leaf shape and pressed it into the tissue paper. Tearing paper is a good way to work on strengthening fine motor skills. You may want to try this at home.
Snack: The morning class had Go-gurt brought by Jake. The afternoon class had peanut butter or cheese crackers brought by Jack. Thank you!
Tomorrow is Funny or Fancy Feet Day. A note is in your child's backpack to help you prepare for this day. Have fun!
