Lemons and Limes start with the letter L

Circle Time:  We used the wooden pieces from our Handwriting Without Tears curriculum to make the letter L.  We sang the letter L song together.

Story:  The Lemonade Stand is the story of two friends who have a lemonade stand together.  Their plan is to makes lots of money and be rich.  However, between the two of them, they drink the lemonade and have nothing left to sell to customers.  At the end, they take their nickel and buy one more thing.  Ask your child to tell you what it was.

Small Groups:  I brought lemons and limes from the grocery store.  We cut them apart and every child was offered the opportunity to take a piece of each one.  They could taste it, smell it and feel it.  Then we gave them a picture to color yellow for lemons and green for limes to indicate which one they liked best.  We took these pictures and made a graph.  The results showed that most children like lemons better than limes.

We practiced printing the letter L on "wet, dry, try" boards which are small chalkboards.  The children trace the letter that I have made with a wet sponge, dry it with their fingers, and try to create it with chalk.

Snack:  The morning class had Angry Bird grahams and apple slices brought by Andie.  The afternoon class had strawberry Pop-tarts brought by Rowan.  Thank you!

Tonight is our Family Night Open House from 6:30-7:30.  We hope that you will all be able to attend!
