Circle Time: We are started the letter H today by learning the H song and making the H sound. We learned that the word Halloween starts with the letter H. I had some typical Halloween characters in the felt board. We talked about which things were real and which were pretend. For example, a bat is real and a witch is pretend For preschoolers, the best thing about Halloween is dressing up in a costume and getting candy. At preschool, we don't talk about the scary things too much, but I do like to let them know that all of these things that they are seeing at this time of the year look scary, but are just pretend.
Story: Inside a House That is Haunted is a story written like the old classic The House the Jack Built. Characters such as ghosts, bats, skeletons, spiders, etc. appear throughout the story. At the end, there is something at the door that frightens all of these characters. Ask your child to tell you what it is.
Small Groups: We did a page in our workbook today that taught us how to make horizontal and vertical lines that cross in the middle.
We also practiced throwing and catching with balloons today. This prepares us for throwing balls later.
Art: We gave the children a paper haunted house to paint with characters that they chose. We will use these to decorate our hallway for Halloween.
Snacks: The morning class had muffins brought by Maddie. The afternoon class had graham crackers and peanut butter brought by Ada. Thank you!
Mrs. Hoogheem had to report for jury duty today. She called in the afternoon to report that she will probably be gone for the rest of the week. Mrs. Lehenbauer will be stepping in to help us out.
